Let me say that when you work at Merritt’s you get to enjoy the best parts of life with your customers-birthdays, anniversaries, new babies, weddings, Thanksgiving, Christmas and even Mardi Gras. It is really cool when you tell someone you work at Merritts, because they always in awe of you. “Oh Merritt’s is the Best!” they say, and then they proceed to talk about their last cake or their tradition of starting off their day with us.

Working for a family owned business is very different from working for a corporation. The Merritts are at the bakery everyday and work with you to improve everything. They undoubtedly care about every little detail. Because they built this company from the ground up and their name is on everything from the buildings to the bags, they are very passionate about turning out wonderful product and giving caring, helpful customer service. They don’t just care about the customers, but also truly care about their employees. Many of the things they do for their staff are never brought up, but sure do help. They do greatly value a hard work ethic and certainly reward loyalty. If you take care of them; they will take care of you.

If you have a serving spirit and relish in a job well done, then you will enjoy being on this ride with us. It’s kind of like being a cowboy. When it is slow between holidays you have to push forward and keep on the right path. And when it is busy--it can be a stampede! You have to run to keep up with the crowd and pull your weight.
